GENERAL SCHOOL REPORT FOR THE YEAR 2024

Introduction

The 2024 academic year was extra ordinary in several ways. Despite the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic, matric candidates and teachers worked so hard to make the community proud of the school. The school has become the beacon of success for more than a decade now. All stakeholders work hard to preserve the brand name of the school.

School trips

The school managed to host a successful trip to Cape Town for Grades 5 to 11 learners at the end of the third quarter, in September 2024.  The trip for Grade R to Grade 4 was done in the fourth quarter to Snake Park in Polokwane.

Academic performance Grade R -11

Academically, the whole school performance for 2024 final examination for Grade R to 11 was 98% , with a multitude of learners awarded scooping awards at the grand graduation event held at True Worshippers Christian Church, commonly known as TWCC. This being a major school event was graced by Dr Thabati , as the guest speaker. She motivated parents and learners to excel in life.

Grade 12 performance for 2024- Matriculants

The matric class of 2024 was the largest ever class in the school and the worst affected during COVID-19, which hit them hard when they were in their early days of  secondary school, in Grade 8. Their 2020 academic year was the shortest in the secondary school sector, yet  as they were phased in late as well in September 2020. Rotational school attendance was the order of the day. They could  attend  only  three days per week at most. They performed beyond expectation however,  considering that in the preparatory examination in September 2024 they performed at 78%. When results were announced by the Minister of Basic Education on 13 January 2024, we were amazed by  our 95% pass rate,  with only 2 learners out of 37 candidates failing to make it. The two candidates missed it by a narrow margin. They qualified to write supplementary examinations in June 2025. The principal and staff are still offering them support to make their dreams come true.

The top performer, Adivhaho Fhetani, who hails from humble background in the local village, Midoroni, hauled 7 distinctions. Her hard work consistently made her one of the top learners in Vhembe West District in 2024.

She thanked God for guiding her through her achievement and she said she had been praying hard to achieve her goals. “I’m glad that my prayers were answered and I  was extremely happy, and I thank God for his unconditional love. I didn’t expect to be a top learner. Matric was sometimes draining. I would get depressed, but kept myself motivated. I used to start my day early, so I  that could get ahead. I guess,  l did get the fattest worm,” she smiled.

“I managed to achieve such excellent results because of my dedication, drive, passion and hunger for success and l  want to put it out there that just because you are disabled doesn’t mean you cannot succeed in something,” added Adivhaho.

“To this year’s Matric class, my advice would be to work hard. Matric is not child’s play.  They must sacrifice everything and don’t go to parties, but focus. If you put pressure on yourself now, you can have pleasure later.” The road to achieving the excellent results was rugged. The group had the majority of the candidates being average performers, with a sizeable number below average learner. Three learners had been progressed to Grade 12 and one learner had rejoined after she had dropped out of school due teenage pregnancy in the previous year- 2023. The dedicated team of teachers managed to guide students to produce 26 Bachelor passes, 5 Diplomas and 4 certificates. This made the school to experience the  highest Bachelor and Diploma thresholds- a percentage pass of 88% in the Soutpanberg West Circuit. The school remains one of the top consistent private schools in the District and beyond having , he school achieved 100% pass rate in 2020, 2021 and in 2022. In 2023 the pass rate was 97%.

Compliments to parents/ guardians

Tribute also goes to parents of our 2024 class who went all the way to support our candidates financially, emotionally. Without which we would not have achieved as a school. They organized spring enrichment and October Saturday classes.

Conclusion

As we celebrate these results, we are already focusing on 2025 matriculants and beyond. We need to go back to the 100% pass rate threshold. We can do it. We have done it several years in the pass 10 years.
